Important Update Regarding EDS Clinic Care

Dear Patients,

After many years of dedicated service to the Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS) community, Dr. Long’s final day seeing patients at our clinic will be July 31st. At this time, all remaining appointments on his schedule have been filled, and we are unable to accommodate additional visits before his departure.

We understand that many patients have specifically sought care with Dr. Long and deeply value the expertise, compassion, and guidance he has provided throughout his career. We are grateful for the trust you have placed in him and our clinic.

As we prepare for this transition, we want to reassure patients that the EDS program will continue with the same commitment to high-quality, evidence-based care. For the past two years, Dr. Long has worked closely with and personally mentored Hilary Weingarth, PA-C, in the evaluation and diagnosis of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and related connective tissue disorders. Through extensive training, direct case collaboration, and ongoing mentorship, he has helped prepare her to lead this next chapter of the clinic.

In addition to her clinical experience, serving and supporting over 1,800 EDS and HSD patients, Hilary remains actively engaged in continuing education and current developments within the EDS community, including educational opportunities provided through The Ehlers-Danlos Society. She is a speaker at this year’s EDS Global Learning Conference in July. Additionally, Hilary is currently completing advanced coursework in neurogenetics, cardiogenetics, and genetic variant interpretation to further expand her expertise in the diagnosis and management of genetic conditions. This ongoing training reflects her commitment to providing patients with up-to-date, comprehensive, and evidence-based care as the field of genetics continues to evolve.

Hilary will be supported by our experienced genetic counseling team as well as Dr. Stopak, DO. For patients whose evaluations or genetic testing identify a condition outside of hypermobile EDS, Dr. Stopak and our genetic counseling team will continue to provide comprehensive assessment and guidance.

Although Dr. Long will no longer be seeing patients directly after July 31st, the knowledge, clinical standards, and expertise he has shared with our providers will remain an integral part of our practice. His training and guidance have helped build a strong clinical team that is well-equipped to continue caring for patients with EDS and related conditions.

We recognize that transitions can be difficult, particularly when they involve a provider who has earned such a strong reputation within the community. We appreciate your understanding and confidence in our team as we continue our mission of providing thoughtful, compassionate, and expert care.

Thank you for allowing us to be part of your healthcare journey.

Sincerely,

The SequenceMD Team
